Publishing and domains
Get found on Google, Bing, and AI assistants
What your site does on its own to be found and quoted, the few steps that are yours, and how to see it working.
step 1
Know what is already done for you
Every published page gets its own title and description: your home page reads Name - Role, other pages read Page title - Name, and descriptions are trimmed cleanly at about 160 characters. Your site serves sitemap.xml and robots.txt, plus llms.txt and llms-full.txt, plain-text summaries of your profile, pages, questions and answers, and writing that AI assistants read. Structured data describes you as a person, with your job title, current employer, past employers and schools, and the credentials from your Education section, and marks up breadcrumbs, your About and Contact pages, articles, and FAQs. When you publish, edit or remove a page, Bing, Yandex, Seznam, Naver and Yep are told through IndexNow, usually within about ten minutes.
- Leave the IndexNow key in Settings, SEO exactly as it is. It was created for you.
- Use the Search result preview in the case study and page editors to check each title (25 to 60 characters) and description (70 to 160 characters).
- Set Site language in Settings, SEO if your portfolio is not in English, so results reach people searching in that language.
step 2
Complete the steps that are yours
Google does not use IndexNow. It finds sites through sitemaps and Search Console, so connecting Search Console is the single most valuable thing you can do. AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini and Copilot quote pages that say plainly who you are and answer real questions, so the words you write matter more than any setting.
- Turn on Allow search indexing in Settings, Public profile.
- Write a Meta description of 70 to 160 characters and an LLMs summary of two or three sentences in Settings, SEO.
- Connect Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, and submit your sitemap.
- Add a page with an FAQ block answering three or more questions clients or recruiters ask. Accordion items whose title ends with a question mark count too.
- Publish at least two case studies with a clear result, and list at least five skills.
step 3
See it working
Portfolio intelligence includes a Search readiness score that checks the published site: indexing, your own domain, Search Console, your description, your role in the title, photo, bio length, linked profiles, case studies and their summaries, skills, page descriptions, fresh writing, your AI summary, questions answered, and a share image. Insights then shows the result in its Search and AI discovery panel: visits from search engines and from AI assistants, the top source, and the pages they land on. No one can promise a ranking, but a complete, specific site is the one that gets found and quoted.
- Work through the Search readiness checks from the top down; they are ordered by impact.
- Expect Bing within days and Google within days to weeks of submitting your sitemap.
- Compare discovery visits month over month, not day to day.
