Project manager resume

A project manager resume that proves delivery, not a duty list.

A project manager resume should prove delivery. For each project, state the scope you owned, the team or budget size, the method you ran, and the schedule or cost result, then let the outcome finish the bullet instead of a phrase like "responsible for coordinating stakeholders". Folio drafts that resume from a paste, scores it 0 to 100 across 7 weighted criteria an applicant tracking system cares about, and exports the PDF and DOCX free on every plan including Free. The same document covers a scrum master resume: put the certification beside your name and describe the teams, the cadence, and the impediments you cleared.

Draft your project manager resume. See the score before you send it.

Free covers the whole build: every resume layout, the ATS score, and an unwatermarked PDF or DOCX. Free does not cover a custom domain, so your site lives at portfolio.wrxstack.com/yourname with a Folio badge, and AI drafting stops at 10 generations a month.

What to put on a project manager resume

The six things a delivery hire is screened on.

Project roles are read for evidence that things landed. Scope, method, money, and dates do that work. A list of duties does not.

Scope

Size the project in the first six words.

A screener calibrates your level from magnitude: headcount coordinated, budget managed, vendors handled, workstreams run, users affected at go-live. Put the number in the bullet, not in the interview. "Ran a 14-person cross-functional build" tells a reviewer more than a paragraph of duties.

Delivery

End every bullet on the result.

Shipped on time. Two weeks early. Under budget by a stated amount. Defects down before a launch gate. Folio structures each project as situation, action, result, so the outcome is the last thing a reader sees and the first thing they remember.

Method

Name the method you actually ran.

Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, waterfall, or an honest hybrid. Recruiters filter on this and hiring managers ask about it, so be specific about sprint length, ceremonies you facilitated, and the tools you ran the board in, such as Jira, Asana, or Azure DevOps.

Stakeholders

Show who you kept aligned.

Project management is a communication job. Say who you reported to, how many teams you coordinated across, and how you handled the escalation nobody wanted to own. Steering committees, vendor negotiations, and executive readouts all belong here.

Keywords

Cover the terms the filter looks for.

Risk register, RAID log, resource planning, change control, dependency management, budget forecasting, stakeholder communication, backlog grooming. Paste the job description and Folio shows you which of these terms the posting uses and your draft does not.

ATS

A score you can see before you export.

Folio grades your resume 0 to 100 across 7 weighted criteria: structure at 30, headings at 18, selectable text at 16, contact details at 12, length at 10, contrast at 8, risky elements at 6. The ATS-friendly badge appears at 90 and above.

How the builder works

From a paste to a scored, exportable file.

No blank page and no format anxiety. The layout already obeys the parsing rules, so your job is the content.

  1. 01

    Paste what you already have.

An old resume, the text of your LinkedIn profile, or eight rough bullets about your last two programs. The AI reads it and drafts a structured project manager resume you can edit line by line.

  2. 02

    Rewrite the projects as outcomes.

Folio walks each role and asks for the missing number: the team size, the budget, the timeline you beat, the risk you retired. A bullet without a result is the one that gets skimmed past.

  3. 03

    Paste the job description.

The keyword gap runs natively and deterministically against the posting. You see which delivery terms the job asks for and which your draft is missing, so you edit toward the filter instead of guessing at it.

  4. 04

    Check the score, then export.

Read the 0 to 100 score and the criteria dragging it down, fix them, and download the PDF or DOCX. No plan check, no watermark, and no limit on how often you re-export after an edit.

Scrum master and agile

Where the scrum master certification goes, and what to write without one.

Put the certification where a parser and a human both find it fast. Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM I), SAFe Scrum Master, or PMP belongs in a dedicated Certifications section with the issuing body and the year, and the short form can also sit beside your name in the header if the role screens hard for it. Spell the credential out once in full and put the acronym in brackets, because a filter may be matching either string.

A scrum master resume then has to describe facilitation, not authority. Write the number of teams and their size, the ceremonies you ran and their cadence, the impediments you removed, and the health metric that moved, such as a cycle-time cut, a steadier velocity, or a burndown that stopped lying. Titles in this space are noisy, so if you have run both plans and ceremonies, a combined project manager and scrum master resume is the honest one, and it usually reads stronger than either alone.

With no scrum master experience yet, the resume is built from adjacent proof rather than a title. Cite the certification and the coursework, the retrospectives or standups you volunteered to facilitate in a job you already had, the board you cleaned up, and any capstone or open source team you coordinated. Then be specific about what you did in each one. A hiring manager will forgive a thin title far sooner than a vague sentence.

Where the money actually is

Most builders are free until the download.

The trade worth checking is not the template count. It is what happens at the export button after you have spent an hour writing.

First-party facts, not borrowed statistics.

We quote no research about rejection rates, because we have run none. Here is what the product does.

The limits, up front

What the free plan does not give you.

Free is not a trial and the export is not the catch, but it is not unlimited either. You get 0 custom domains, so your site is published at portfolio.wrxstack.com/yourname rather than at a name you own, and a "Made with Folio" badge is shown on it. AI drafting is capped at 10 generations a month, media storage at 512 MB, and the portfolio design gallery is limited to the core themes. Pro lifts those at Rs 599 or $9 a month.

None of that touches the resume. Every resume layout and preset is open on Free, the ATS score runs on Free, and the PDF and DOCX come down unwatermarked as many times as you like. We put the gate on the website polish rather than on the document you need to send tomorrow, and we would rather tell you that here than at the download button.

FAQ

Honest answers.

How should a project manager resume look?

Single column, standard headings, no tables or text boxes, and the contact line in the body rather than in a header graphic. Open with a four-line summary, then a projects-led experience section where every entry carries scope, method, and a result. Certifications and tools get their own blocks so a parser can lift them cleanly. Folio ships layouts where those rules already hold, which is why the parsing part stops being your problem.

How many pages should a project manager resume be?

One page if you have under about ten years of delivery behind you, two if you are running programs, portfolios, or a PMO and every line still earns its space. Length is 10 of the 100 points in the Folio score, so a bloated document costs you measurably. The fix is almost never a smaller font. It is cutting the projects that no longer prove anything a hiring manager wants.

What keywords should a project manager resume include?

The ones in the posting you are answering, first. Beyond that, delivery roles screen for risk register, change control, RAID log, resource planning, dependency management, budget forecasting, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and stakeholder communication, plus your tools such as Jira, Asana, Smartsheet, or MS Project. Paste the job into Folio and the keyword gap is computed on device, showing exactly which of those terms the role wants and your draft is missing.

What do I write in a project manager resume summary?

Four lines, no adjectives you cannot defend. Line one is your title and years. Line two is the biggest thing you have delivered, with the number attached. Line three is the method and the domain you run in. Line four is the outcome pattern a reader should expect from you, such as recovering late programs or standing up delivery from scratch. Read it back and delete any sentence that could sit unchanged on any other project manager resume.

How do I list a scrum master certification on my resume?

Give it a Certifications section with the full name, the acronym in brackets, the issuing body, and the year, for example Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Scrum Alliance, 2024. If the job screens hard on the credential, repeat the short form next to your name at the top. Never bury it inside a paragraph of prose, because that is exactly where a keyword match goes to die.

How do I write a scrum master resume with no experience?

Lead with the certification and coursework, then mine your current job for real facilitation. Standups you volunteered to run, a retrospective you organized, a backlog you dragged into shape, a dependency you unblocked between two teams. Name the team size and the cadence, and finish each line with what improved. Adjacent proof described precisely beats a borrowed title described vaguely, every time.

Can AI write it, and can Folio score the resume I already have?

AI writes the first draft from your paste, and then the analysis is where the real work happens: the score and the keyword gap are computed natively and deterministically, so the same input always yields the same number. What Folio cannot do is grade a PDF you upload from Word or Canva, because the engine reads Folio layouts and content rather than an arbitrary file. Paste the text in instead, and the layout it lands in is one where the ATS rules cannot be broken.
